People often ask, "is pregnancy massage safe?"

Yes pregnancy massage is safe through all trimesters of pregnancy, however it is important to gain a medical clearance from your doctor before any massage is indicated within the first trimester, if there is any kind of pregnancy complications or you are a high risk client.


What are the benefits of massage during pregnancy?

* Increased relaxation for the whole body 

* Decrease in muscle tension 

* Encouraging lymph and fluid to circulate the whole body, therefore, decreasing swelling 

* Reduced stress on weight bearing joints like hips and knees

Often we get asked, "How do you do the pregnancy massage?" 

At Mels Massage, we do the massage side lying. This is most comfortable for both mum and bub at all stages of the pregnancy. You can have extra support with blankets and pillows for your own level of comfort. 


Through side lying, we have you on one side for half the massage then assist you to change positions to the other side so you can have a full body experience! 


Pregnancy Massage can be generally any type of massage including Relaxation, Lymphatic Drainage (for moving fluid) and Remedial (for targeted pain areas), providing everything with your pregnancy is going well.
